A new sensor - R.A.P.S.
PICZA is a compact 3D scanner that fits perfectly into
both your desktop space and your budget. When we designed
it, we started by developing a new sensor that eliminates
the drawbacks of conventional contact-type 3D scanners.
This innovative sensor, the "Roland Active Piezo Sensor"
(RAPS), can scan data with hair-splitting precision, picking
up even the most minute shape variations. Minimum scanning
pitches are 0.025mm in height (Z axis) and 0.05mm in width
(X axis) and depth (Y axis).
Scan all kinds of objects
As well as increasing scanning accuracy, the PICZA covers
a wide range of materials that can be scanned. Since it's
a contact-type scanner, you can scan glass and other transparent
materials. Plus, it can also scan clay figures, fruit and
other soft objects with unparalleled accuracy. Even if you
are inexperienced at 3D CAD design, you can scan clay shapes
for use in professional-quality computer graphics or produce
any handicraft. In addition to being an innovative 3D scanner,
PICZA can also expand the scope of what you can do with
your PC, for extra creativity and fun.
So easy to use
To make operation as simple as possible, we have designed
PICZA with only one control button: the power switch. All
you have to do is turn it on! You can do everything else
using the Dr. PICZA software which is included. Set the
basic scanning parameters (like area and pitch), click Dr.
PICZA's start button and that's it. The rest is done for
you automatically!
Wide Variety of Formats
PICZA scans can be stored in DXF, STL, BMP, Grayscale (BMP),
3DMF and VRML file formats, so you can use them for a wide
range of applications. When combined with MODELA, our PC
Tool Box 3D plotter, PICZA can handle an even greater variety
of creative tasks. You can make 3D objects with MODELA directly
from PICZA's scan data, or edit it with computer graphics
software first and then process it with MODELA for more
advanced modeling.
Dr. PICZA - Software
Easy-to-operate yet powerful
The software features a dynamic graphic display and diverse
editing functions. Dr. PICZA features control functions
such as scan pitch and area settings, plus numerous editing
functions including a handy convex/concave inversion function
for making molds, a mirror function for creating symmetric
data, a tilt adjustment function, a curve smoothing function
and a function for adjusting the height of surfaces. A preview
function lets you check the image from any angle using a
wire frame, and you can even display color and texture renderings.
PICZA scan data can be stored in its original format, PIX,
and can be edited in any text editor for use in other applications.
This software is available on Windows® 95/98/NT and Mac®
.
TIPS:
In addition to Dr. PICZA, PICZA also comes standard with MODELA
Player Ver. 2 software for outputting scanned data to MODELA.
MODELA Player Ver.2 can be started directly from Dr. PICZA
for easy operation. The system also supports our CAMM-2 engraving
machine (PNC-2300) and CAMM-3 prototyping/modeling machine
(PNC-3100, PNC-3000, PNC-300) for those jobs that require
mode serious CNC machining.
